From the City of Friendswood Public Works Department:
The City of Friendswood receives our water supply from two main sources, both of which come from the City of Houston. One of these main water lines has recently developed a major leak in the vicinity of State Highway 3 and El Dorado Blvd.
As a result, the City of Houston will shut down this water line and begin major repairs beginning tonight at 7 p.m. Work is expected to be complete by the end of this weekend.
The City of Friendswood is already under voluntary outdoor watering limitations, and as a result of this unexpected water leak, it is important that Friendswood residents suspend all outdoor watering through this weekend.
Water pressure is expected to be abnormally low during this time, and all conservation efforts are very important as they will help to maintain adequate water pressure levels throughout the city.

(Update 6/9/2011)
This is an important message from the City of Friendswood Public Works Department.
Friendswood residents were recently asked to suspend outdoor watering through this weekend as a result of a damaged water line that needed repair. That repair has been postponed until Monday.
As a result, residents are free to use water this weekend in accordance with our voluntary outdoor watering limitations: addresses ending in even numbers are asked to water on even numbered days, and addresses ending in odd numbers are asked to water on odd numbered days.
On Monday, June 13, as the damaged water line is repaired, Friendswood residents are asked to suspend all outdoor watering in order to maintain adequate water pressure levels throughout the city. It is unknown at this time how long the repair will take, so please visit the City's website, www.friendswood.com for updates.
